The Fox and The Vixen

The Fox and the Vixen

One bright spring day I did agree
To meet with a fair grey fox
Oh bold and brazen was he
So I wore my finest frocks

He wished to see a pleasant view
From the steps of Buckfastleigh
And passing through the kissing gate
Deeply he kiss-ed me

Then down to the caves he skipped and ran
Back up to the church I led
And hiding in the old vestry
I gave him my maidenhead

The fox was clear, he could not give
That, which I deserve
Yet he already beguiled me
So I took what he did serve

Then home he ran to the summer vale
That lie beyond the hills
And left me dreaming of that day
When my empty heart he filled

When down to the caves he skipped and ran
And up to the church I led
Hiding in the old vestry
I gave him my maidenhead
___

Now, news is carried to my ears
Good news has come to town
I hear he makes his way back here
Up the hills and right back down

He'll wish to see a pleasant view
From the steps of Buckfastleigh
And passing through the kissing gate
Deeply he will kiss me

And down to the caves we'll skip and run
Then up to the church I'll lead
Hiding in the old vestry
I'll give in to his need.
